This past winter was reported to have been the coldest winter in Romania with the most snow since 1938. Below are various outdoor pictures taken in different parts of the country throughout December, when we were just getting started with snow.

One horse open sleighs are popular in the countryside!

The mountain roads are gorgeous during the winter.

Gypsy bands are very popular during the Christmas holiday.

Lots of people visit Sinaia and other resort cities of Romania during the holidays.

What a beautiful group out caroling on Christmas Eve afternoon.

Gypsy band member shows us how his bear costume looks when he bends over!

The city streets of Bucharest are beautiful during the holiday season.

I love the parks of Romania. Cismigiu Park in Bucharest had lots of fun activities. Horse drawn carriages were one of them.

There was also a lovely Nativity Scene at Cismigiu Park. It reminded me a little of Temple Square in Salt Lake.

Missionaries in Cluj go caroling as well.
Elder Sanchez, Elder Andersen, Elder Sullivan, Sora Gaughran, and Sora Campbell.

More city streets.

The full gypsy band! They make money for playing!

More park characters!

Joshua was proud of his first snowball of winter. He brought it in and wanted to save it in our freezer. I told him we could remember it by taking a picture of it. He agreed.

Great post, Mom. I love seeing the different aspects of Romanian life. But my favorite was Josh and the snowball. I'm not surprised at all that he wanted to keep it in the freezer.
Oh, and Iowa's past winter was the worst they've had in recorded history. :) Not fun.
